No substantial improvement in aluminum demand is expected for the remainder of the year, with the exception of China, which has exceeded 2008 consumption levels, Norsk Hydro ASA (NHY.OS) said Tuesday.

The Norwegian producer noted that aluminum demand increased in China as government actions and initiatives related to the financial crisis reached full effect during the third quarter.
