Rental tax proof plan reworked: New measure uses Assessor Web site to track property owners

The Morgantown City Council scrapped a proposed ordinance that would require rental property owners to show a tax ticket as proof they've registered their properties with the Monongalia County Assessor's Office.

Instead, City Council would like to ask the city's rental property owners to turn in the map and parcel numbers of their rental properties when they register with the city, so city staff can go to the County Assessor's Web site and verify the property classifications.
