Turkey: Syrian minister views role of Islamic body in global economy

Istanbul, Nov 05, 2009 (BBC Monitoring via COMTEX) --

Syrian Trade and Economy Minister Amir Husni Lutfi said on Thursday [5 November] that Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) should undertake an important role in reconstruction of global economic structure and bringing a new system.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 25th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (Comcec) of OIC in Istanbul, Lutfi said that first of all it was necessary to strengthen commercial and investment connections, adding that they envisaged to increase OIC's internal trade volume to 20 per cent in 10-year action plan.
