More than half of Portuguese consumers aged 16 and over use computers, with computers found in 56 percent of households, according to data from INE. Almost 10 percent (9.7%) of consumers shop online. The Survey on the Use of Information Technology and Communication for Families says that in the first quarter, 56 percent of households had access to a computer at home, 47.9 percent had an internet connections and 46.2 per percent enjoyed broadband. Of those between 16 and 74 years, 51.4 percent used the computer, 46.5 percent accessed the internet and 9.7 percent placed their orders for goods or services over the internet.
