Monterey County tourism decline brings need 'to work harder': Convention bureau leader sees better days ahead

He's seen the numbers showing declining hotel occupancy and room rates in Monterey County, but Bob Cowdrey chooses to be optimistic.

"It's a different mind-set. We have to work harder" to attract business, said Cowdrey, who was hired as strategic adviser to the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau last month while a new chief executive is sought.
