Taiwan grant to boost telecommunications in Solomons

6 November: The Republic of China (Taiwan) today formally released an 8m Solomon Islands dollars [approx 1m US] payment to assist the Solomon Islands government compensate Our Telekom to enable the company relinquish its monopoly licence. ROC Ambassador George Chan released the payment to Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua in Honiara today.
