The Iraqi lawmakers on Sunday approved by majority the long-awaited elections law which would govern the country's national polls next January.
The law won 141 votes out of 195 lawmakers who attended the televised session of the 275-seat parliament.
The lawmakers have been struggling over a compromise on the crucial law which was stumbled by the stubborn stances of the Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen over the oil-rich province of Kirkuk.
